Care.com: Hire Caregivers App Reviews

Terrible Layout

Im a care.com member who consistently finds amazing sitters using the site. Unfortunately, the layout of the app is terrible. Its very difficult to navigate and post jobs. I usually log onto my computer to avoid using my the phone app.

Really??

You seriously have to pay to book a job?? Stupidest thing ever.

Great app

This was very helpful tired of using internet

Pfffft

Too expensive, recurring payments are troublesome. Wouldnt accept my coupon. We got a psycho nanny stalker, complained to care.com and they couldnt care less, shes still on the site. If you leave a review for a nanny, she sees your name. We left a bad review for a wacko and she threatened to sue us. Just use Craigslist, free and easy.

Horrible

Finally found someone to care for my child, couldnt even view the message because i HAVE to upgrade the app. Notice "HAVE" in capital letters because if you dont upgrade and start paying a monthly amount, you wont be able to view the messages or even contact the person interested in the job. I tried sending them my number and instead care blocked the message, didnt let me reply and wouldnt let me give them my number. So frustrated with it and so done.

Arch h

Read the reviews before paying. The only reason I give this a one star is because they dont warn you that they take out the full $200+yearly fee out at once. Other than that its so so. Because if you also are wanting to do a background check that an additional charge. Like really I just spent over $200

If I could leave 0 stars, I would...

I downloaded the app looking for a babysitter for next weekend and found out I cant contact anyone without upgrading to the paid version. Seriously, whats the point of a free app and allowing us to put out ads, but then making us pay to contact people, this isnt a dating site. When I first used this program in 2009, it was paid only if you wanted background checks or to access them, which I would have happily paid for, but just to contact someone, no. I will not be using this app for my child care needs.

Malfunctions constantly

Randomly closes when using it and consistently says theres an error when you try to send a message to a caregiver. Horrible app. Not worth even trying to use it.

I have to pay to apply?

Seriously Care, you should feel ashamed of yourselves for charging people to apply to jobs.

Cool app

Just started using today so Ill see how it goes, so far its really cool. Hope I get a job soon.

Booooooo

Now I have to pay to try and find families to care for?? Arent you already getting money from the families??! Why would I ever pay to get a job when only 1 in 10 actually reply?? Rip off. I will NEVER ever pay. Guess Im going to search on sittercity now!

App great/costumers not

App itself is great, but almost 9/10 users that contact me for my service are not serious and usually waste my time. They contract me and refer me to friends and exchange emails and information then never reply. Unreliable and lack of serious costumers especially in pet care/walking.

All about money

You have to pay or the client has to pay to get responses. Plus there is not a lot of opportunity for jobs. A waste of time and money.

Care.com

Works like its supposed to, very pleased.

Way too expensive to find someone

$17.50 for 12 months or $55 for only 1 month! Crazy. I only need to find 1 cleaning lady. Going to look for a different site

Care.coms Mobile App Is Terrible

I never liked this app. They never improve on it either, or take suggestions to heart, no matter how many times paying members write in and ask. On the regular website, as well as in the mobile iPhone and iPad apps, there is a severe limit on the amount of text allowed in the description area, when you go to post a job. The character limit count for posting jobs can only be up to 850 letters. This is NOT NEARLY enough room to state what you’re looking for when you’re hiring someone to come into your home on a permanent basis. If I’m paying $30 to $45 a month for a membership, I expect to have a lot more leeway with entering job duties and descriptions. Craigslist does, and they’re free! You also cannot switch the view to landscape view in the mobile apps; only a vertical view. Care.coms blocking feature on the website and mobile apps doesn’t work. If it’s not working out with someone that you had hired on Care.com, and you need to post a new ad looking for someone else, the caregiver that youre looking to replace WILL SEE YOUR AD!!! This is exactly what happened to me. I hired someone who was unreliable, and she actually saw my new ad and quit the next day- with no notice, and at the worst time possible, before I could find a new replacement. The blocking feature on Care.com (and the mobile iPhone and iPad apps) should block the specific person from seeing ALL of your activity on Care.com. That’s what an online blocking feature is for! Care.coms monthly membership fees are far too high, considering what little paying members can do in the mobile apps and on the website. By the way, no one in their right mind would use the "pay caregiver" feature. That’s what checkbooks are for.

Limited options

This app requires you to put in dates and times for jobs. I joined in order to find help for our household. Our needs do not really fit any of the categories so I have not been successful in finding a good match. I need someone to come in and cook dinner when Im not here but Im not looking for a "personal chef." My kids are older and Im not looking for a "babysitter" my husband is sick but Im not looking for a "nurses aid." I thought it would be like "match" but its not easy to scroll through profiles. Its set up more like Uber but really who would order a person to just show up at your house ?? They need more organization and fine tuning to be really helpful.

UPDATE

The update since (July 25th) till this day keeps crashing every time I apply for a job. Time I open the app it closes out. Every single time!!!!! Please fix it ASAP!!!

Confusing layout & options

Not intuitive. Wording when making in app purchases is confusing too. Was trying to understand the background check cost and what "unlimited subject to person willing to release background information" means. No explanation and when I tried to sign up it was going to charge $299 instead of a monthly $25 as advertised. Also trying to figure out how to view/delete job posts. This is basic stuff, wth?

User Friendly

Great App for finding childcare! The ability to swipe delete and make a favorites list of caregivers is super helpful
